Sounds like things are coming along! I can understand how difficult a proposal would be -I have a hard time clearly describing what my book is going to be about and I dread having to write out some sort of proposal for it! As for not getting to prior suggestions, it's no matter -do things in the order and time that feel comfortable for you -that's what is going to be the best.

I will make one other suggestion -you mentioned that this might be a difficult task given that you don't have a ton of work under your belt or name recognition -you might want to consider e-publishing. The great thing about it is that it gets your name out there and it can lead to a contract with a print publisher too depending on sales and reviews. It's a good way for newer people on the scene to get work recognized. If you have like a collection of short stories, you might want to consider shopping those if you don't want to shop the book right away -if you can get them picked up, it would give you a bargaining chip -but you'd be amazed at who does e-publishing these days -some big names and some new ones. I did some research for sites listing contacts and publishers so I'll include those at the bottom!

Otherwise, all I can say is keep up the good work -looks like you've got a lot of positive momentum and that rocks!

Oh -and one more thing -if you want to get some work in writing or journalism or something that you can use on a resumé, you might try this site -many of the jobs don't require degrees and a lot are just about producing web content and such -I've looked on there for things for myself and there's a pretty broad range -maybe you'll find something that would suit you better and give you both fodder for a resumé and a bit more freedom to work on your project!

Okay I'm done, I promise!
