This week Brian compares two different versions of a song that shares the same melody but different lyrics, and he also covers two songs during Dylan's "Divorce" period of the early 70s.

Great show. very interesting dylan selections.
However, your take on "the wedding song" strikes me as funny, because as the song was playing i was thinking it was about Jesus. especially this line:
"Eye for eye and tooth for tooth, your love cuts like a knife"
and this line:
"You breathed on me and made my life a richer one to live
When I was deep in powerty you taught me how to give"
'breathed on them' is what jesus did with the children in the gospel.
sorry, i think he was gettin' Jesus fever at this point.
1973 is far too early for Dylan to have seen the light. Dylan from Day 1 had always used Bible/Gospel/Old Testement imagery for his music - I think this is just another example. He didn't start getting Jesus crazy till about 76.
